viz-playground

A modular suite of interactive graph visualizations built on D3.js force-directed layouts. Each example demonstrates a specific technique from our research into perceptual encoding for knowledge graphs.

The system implements 19 visual encoding dimensions — node size, color, opacity, border, shape, glow, pattern, and pulse; edge opacity, width, color, dash, and animation; plus layout, clustering, background, zoom, and temporal channels. Human cognitive bandwidth limits effective simultaneous channels to ~4, so the system foregrounds the most relevant channels per context.

Design principles derived from Hooktheory Trends graph analysis and InfraNodus text network visualization research.
